Stitch has two meanings- basic and complex. Basic meaning for a stitch is a loop on a needle. Complex is a set of instructions which result in particular look. These can be lace stitches, cable stitches or colour work. When reading a pattern it will be clear which type of stitch it refers to. Make sure you read instructions carefully to ensure best results.
